Gladiator Arena

After watching Starz' Spartacus Blood & Sand as well as gods of the Arena. I was inspired to create a gladiator arena based on the Capuan arena from the series. As you can see this is not an exact copy as I made the arena more linear were in the show it is more of a mish mash of buildings. I will be adding curtains to the back of the viewing platform and I need to add seats for the spectators. I will be making some minor modifications to the model as time permits. I made the interior cell door movable and am happy with that result. The whole model is based on a large piece of plexiglass and flocked with sand.

I was able to use the Arena at HeroDaDogs' place to try out 2 hour wargames Blue Sky and Red Sand Gladiator rules.

You can see some more photos on HeroDaDog's blog.

Impetus

I have been basing up my Celts that I had done for WAB but never got around to finishing because of the amount of figs needed. I am using the Basic Impetus system for basing them from Dadi & Piombo or dice and lead in English. I am still looking for my camera cable so I can upload any pics.

You can check out the free rules here http://www.dadiepiombo.com/basic2.html

Sons of Kronos Expands

I have been able to get back to painting my Chronopia army since I have finished my Quar. It is moving along nicely and I am almost finished. I completed four more warriors and Eight Blade Maidens. I will be rebasing all models to the 30mm lipped bases. I will also be adding snow to the Blade Maidens bases. Let me know what you all think of these models. As usual for a close up of the models go to the photobucket page.

I have finished my "Quarmy"

It has been a long road but I have finished painting 99% of my Quar Royalists. All I have left is two heavy weapons and one arm that got left off of one model.

At first, I was a bit overwhelmed by the magnitude of the task as I had to glue all of their heads and back packs on which turned out to be a rather fidly affair. I think the high humidity also played a part in them taking a while to set and the complete lack of zip kicker also slowed me down. I also had a few casualties from them falling over and losing their heads. I mounted them all on 25mm slotta bases stolen from other models. I think they came out rather nice for my little army of proto-aardvarks.

Future plans include buying a Spanish revolution era tank and truck for support. I want put a field kitchen together on a trailer. I have plans for an observation balloon as well.

The Quar have arrived

Well sort of. They have arrived on my paint desk. I have quite a few to work through. I have finished 10 of them so far and am looking forward to working through the rest over the holiday season. I got one of the Royalist faction army deals earlier this summer and am just getting around to painting them as I settle in to my new apartment. The other faction is the Crusaders who look more modern with their uniforms. I am basing mine off of Napoleon's Bavarian allies Osprey book. The unit name is the 890th Fusiliers. It is hard to make out but at the bottom of their jackets is green pipping.
